Fort Valley, GA – Jan.30, 2007 – International City Builders, Inc. (ICB) is proud to announce that it has been selected as the Construction Manager to build the Press No. 2 expansion for Arriscraft International USA. The facility is located on the southern border of Crawford County; approximately 5-miles from Fort Valley, GA off of highway 341.
Arriscraft International USA is a producer and marketer of manufacturer stone and brick for residential and commercial construction projects. The Fort Valley plant started operations in 2002 and currently employs approximately 100 people from the local Crawford and Peach County areas. The facility produces product for commercial applications. The new expansion will double the size of the existing plant and allow Arriscraft International USA to not only increase their production, but add new lines of product geared towards the residential markets.
Larry Johnston, V.P. Engineering with Arriscraft International USA, commented, “With the new expansion Arriscraft will increase their staff with local hires and fill a demand in the residential market for this type of high quality product.” Sensitive to the Owner’s desire for early completion of the construction, Mark A. Christianson, Senior Project Manager with ICB, said “Construction is scheduled to break ground in early February 2007 and anticipate completion in the winter of the same year. Teaming up with the Owner and Architect (Hayes, Michael & Gregory Design Studio) during the design phase has allowed ICB to provide cost and constructability overview for a quick start and early finish that is within the Owner’s budget.”
The new expansion will add more than 50,000 sf to the production facility and a structural steel mixing tower approximately 80ft tall. At the mixing tower a system of conveyors lift materials to the top, where they are blended together to make the specified mix. The mix is then pressed into the desired shapes and cured. Once cured the product is sorted by type and sent to another building where the final touches are made before shipping. Under the above ground processes are a system of 12’ x 12’ concrete tunnels for removing debris, which ICB will extend approximately 400 feet. Also, in addition to the expansion of the manufacturing areas, the project will include new spaces for a cafeteria/break room, lockers, shower areas, and office spaces for the employees.
